Fashion Brands fighting to Survive
Cedrik Hoffmann, CEO of Ameba, sat down with Simon Platts, ex ASOS Responsible Sourcing Director and Co-founder of Recomme, to talk about why purpose and profit need to go hand in hand as household fashion brands fight for survival in today's challenging retail environment.

Simon Platts
Part of the industry for over 35 years, Simon started out his journey as a Saturday sales consultant for Next retail in the mid-1980s, before moving through the ranks into visual merchandising, buying and buying management, and finally sourcing. Today, he is a Board Advisor to Recomme, the start-up offering brands and retailers a workable SaaS platform solution to realise their circular programmes from resale and recycling, supporting them with the circularity regulations coming into force across the EU. He has also set up an industry consultancy called SP & KO with fellow industry veteran Katherine O'Driscoll, focused on helping companies to achieve sustainability goals whilst improving overall performance.Prior to this Simon was at ASOS for nearly 10 years as Responsible Sourcing Director, where his role was to oversee the company’s sourcing, packaging, ethical trade, product sustainability and 3rd-party branded engagement functions. He also headed up buying for Blacks, Millets, and one of the leading high street suppliers.
Cedrik Hoffmann
Cedrik is a serial founder with deep supply chain expertise. Prior to cofounding Ameba, he cofounded e-commerce aggregator VALOREO, where he scaled the supply chain for over 20 consumer brands as the company grew from Seed to Series B before exiting to Razor Group. Before that, he served as Co-CEO of a Taiwan-based manufacturing company and supplier to Fortune 500 companies. Cedrik graduated from the London School of Economics and is fluent in Chinese, German, and English.
